Memoir Fragrance by Amouage

Arriving on the Market in September 2010 is the latest fragrance Memoir from Amouage. The fragrance itself is available for both Men and Women in the usual 50ml and 100ml bottles.

Amouage Creative Director Christopher Chong embarks on a deep voyage to unlock the mysteries that reside within human nature which are impossible to come to understand. Inspired by a poem by a 19^th Century French Poet, Charles Baudelaire, Chong’s Memoir Man seeks to uncover his identity by seeking the underworld where he meets his other self and alter ego, the Black Swan. He expresses these influences by uniting the potent ingredient of Absinth with other accords of floral and wood.

In the female version of this story, Memoir Woman is the Black Swan. They hauntingly come together as one, representing each other’s past, present and future, mimicking each other’s pain and sorrow. It is the Memoir that they share which separates and reunites them, constructed by uniting contradicting fragments of accords together in these mesmerizing fragrances of Memoir Man and Woman by Amouage. 

Memoir Man – Review

This fragrance unmasks itself with a green sensation of Mint leading to a journey of Absinth and Wormwood, which then opens the doors to self discovery. The fragrance then continues to expresses the complexity of the Black Swan with the scent of sophisticated Vetiver. Memoir Man, described as a leather-woody-fougère fragrance, contains notes of wormwood/absinth, basil, mint, frankincense, rose, lavender, vetiver, sandalwood, guaiac wood, amber, vanilla, musk, oakmoss, leather and tobacco.

Memoir Woman - Review

Memoir Woman manifests with a spicy fusion of Absinth to resonate the magical aura of the ‘Black Swan’. With this fragrance, Chong stated, “I wanted to create a haunting fragrance that is beyond the restriction of gender and one that is both hypnotic and bewitching. I articulate this aspect by increasing the dark wood accord with cashmeran, sandalwood and patchouli supported by an animalic accord in the base to neutralise the gender difference.”

Memoir Woman is a leather animalic chypre with notes of mandarin, cardamom, absinthe, pink pepper, pepper, clove, white flowers, rose, jasmine, wood, frankincense, styrax, oakmoss, castoreum, leather, labdanum, fenugreek and musk.

Amouage Memoir Conclusion

Both the Memoir Man and Woman bottles are made of dark black glass crystal fading from dark to a lighter shade with silver metal caps, resembling black fog rising from wet cobbled streets of Europe. Memoir is an exciting new fragrance from Amouage, which dictates the story of the Black Swan through a delightful new scent.
